MP3: Wale - 5 Minutes (feat. Skyzoo) x M.I.A. Boyz Remixes

The resurgence of Wale Ovechkin! First off, "5 Minutes" features Skyzoo and is produced by 9th Wonder off the tremendous LRG x Wale x 9th Wonder presents: Back To The Feature mixtape. And after checking with Mr. Weisman, it's true; 9th Wonder flipped the same sample Wale used for "Back in the Go-Go" on "5 Minutes." The sample? Curtis Mayfield's "Short Eyes," also used on Jay-Z's "American Gangster."

Next we've got a few remixes to M.I.A.'s "Boyz," which is receiving a new reissue. You might have seen a Jay-Z remix pop up a few days back, and there's a story behind it. Back in June 2007, Wale met with Jay when he was still at Def Jam and the "Boyz" video came on the TV. Jay made a joke about challenging Wale to write over that beat, so he did just that, the next day. The verses from the remix appeared on the Scottie B-produced "Bmore Club Slam" off Mixtape About Nothing, but since Interscope is re-releasing the single, Wale recorded two new verses. Peep the 2007 and 2008 versions below.

And DC! This Wednesday Wale will be shooting a video for last year's area anthem, "Nike Boots." (Don't act like you didn't record a verse) The flick will be shot by director extraordinaire Chris Robinson and if you get to Mirrors on time with an ID, you get to be in the video. Do NOT miss this!
